Late For 15 Chocolates!
A friend of ours was married in Bangalore and we were invited to join the reception party in Hyderabad. Well, this seemed like a great opportunity to meet and everybody agreed.
We planned, as it was more feasible; my friends would directly come from work and I would pick-up the flower bouquet before joining them friends at the venue. Then was the “What Not to Wear” part, we decided on the elegant Indian wear – The Sari.
It was the evening and I hadn’t zeroed in on the sari; After a course of coarse phone calls, the time was set to 7:30 PM; and the late-comer is supposed to give the other; the number of chocolates, number of minutes they were late for.
I had to hurry and was glad that I was at the flower shop when the next call came. They were already at Begumpet and I was nowhere close. Believe me, holding a bouquet when you are in a sari is a tedious task you would ever ask for. However, there was more in store for me; the autos were not in sight and when they did come they didn’t want to be hired. With every minute, I was worried; Dad at any moment might ask me to drop the plan; leaving me in all tears. After a hunt of 10 mins, I was relieved when I got into one.
The ride was a happy one; no traffic and the auto driver; he knew the place .Only the thought prevailed; how many chocolates I have to part with- A sad thought; The Happy one – I was atlast going to meet them.
I reached but there wasn’t anyone in sight, when I rang they asked me to wait at the gate; but was glad I found my way to the reception.
The Chiran Fort – Begumpet is one of splendid palaces of the Nawaabs. As you enter, you are treated to lush green lawns with tables laid for a perfect family dinner. As you follow the pathway, you can do nothing but marvel the grandeur of the palace. When you pass through the hallway you are welcomed to the huge life size portraits of the Asaf -Jahi Kings, their prominent glamour is impeccable. The end of the hallway, a cozy seating area greets you to Velvety Ruby Red Palatial Chairs. You are bound to feel like a king when you sit in one of those. Well it was me, the Queen (As the king is nowhere in sight), admiring the arches, the ambience is so soothing, one has to be in the environs for this sheer pleasure. The hallway then opens into a gallery. All lit for the reception. I wonder how beautiful it must be on a moonlit night.
Back to Reality....
I still didn’t have my friends around. All the time, wondering what must be keeping them, I rang, so that I can guide them to where I was. I thought they that had lost me at the entrance and were probably wondering where I was... The Case Of Mistaken Identity. It was just a few minutes later that I realized how wrong I was. They were the one's late. Thanx to Varu for the tip-off.
After the chocolates deal was settled for good, the friendly conversations came through. We moved to the party but the Newly Wed couple wasn’t in sight. We found our way though the crowd to a less chaotic area. We were happy; we could make it of all the time constraints, the traffic and other odds.
Avinash joined us after few minutes. It was the first time I saw Bhabhi. They make a good couple. Hope he recuperates soon from the bike accident. It hurts to see an active, adventurous person like him mapping his every move (literally). You should know, he is one of an Antique Collector. More about him, sometime later.
The newly weds were still nowhere in sight; the DJ’s “SCHIKS” for Roshini, for Rashmi were well off, but the crowd would sure have preferred something else. Dinku’s mom came by, she is so graceful, and as Jo said Dinku gets a lot from his mom.
Atlast the couple arrived, the place appeared to be ever more brighter; though I am not sure, was it because of their impeccable aura of being a couple or probably I was dazed as my tummy was giving up on me. We were all hungry now, but the queue to wish the newly weds never seemed to end.
We decided to save the wishing part for the latter, after the soup to be more precise; & of course, it was all about having fun at someone else’s wedding. The soup was delicious. And as the agony of hunger subsided, and seemed to have latched onto the other part of the crowd. We decided to move towards the stage to wish our so famous comrade. But were stopped, as they had some other event in the planning.
Well we decided for the better and joined the festivities. The food was great and served with elegance. After about 20 mins and without much further ado, we made our way to the showground; Dinx appeared to have lost some weight, the fashion advisor must have heaved a sigh of relief; the trick worked….lol. Dinku and Sharmila make a perfect couple. Dinx! Don’t try to improve, Ever.
Seeing the two couples here, I felt, world does change a lot, when your better half is next to you. By the way, I didn’t mention about the dessert yet; The Khubani Ka Meetha was authentic; the apricot dish was incredible; the apricots were caringly cooked, subtly sweetened and it felt just so right.
Conversations:
• Latest Who’s Who & Who’s Where.
• Few fashion tips from the crowd. (Hey ! this is a Her’s Blog).
• Few Wot to do’s and Wot not to do’s.
• The jewellery worn by Jyoti. It was a beauty Varu.
• Sudhir’s Progress – Tarakki – He looks even more sweeter now with that hairstyle of his. Nevertheless, I should say he has turned into a responsible person, glad I know someone like him.
• Neelima- Was another name remembered. Hope she is doing fine.
• We missed Avutu.
• Enjoyed seeing the huge portraits Avinash’s GrandParents as he introduced… lol
By the time we started back home, it was about 10:00 PM, and were pleased to get a pick up to a nearby auto stand. Thanx to Varu.
The Evening: Shared few laughs, remembered a few long forgotten faces. Had fun. And is sure a great one to my “Good Day Kitty”.
P.S:
1. Both the newborns; They look so cute and cuddly and are so much like their moms… Have no clue when I am gonna hold them.
2. Waiting for Dec’20. Beware Sudhir…
3. Chocolates due.

The people thronged at Gateway today to condemn the bloodshed, the terrorism attack a week ago. These people weren’t coaxed in by 50/- per head policy or had come for the sightseeing as it happens in our politicians rally. The people felt the pain in their deepest of hearts.
Its time the politicians realize India is no more about assuring the poor for the two meals, trying to make both ends meet, India is no more about the falsifying ‘promising speeches’, India is not about unemployed youth and yes, we Indians do exist in T-Shirt, Pants and wear powder, lipstick too.
Statements / Questions:
• India can rebel.
• Stop taking us for granted. Where are the taxes going?
• Why can’t we attack the infiltration groups - Bush did; they do fall under our missile range.
• Whole world knows the groups are operating through Pakistan but why none of us can attack except for the speeches – the so-called peace dialogue.
• Why not a suicide bomber kill the D gang?
• Either ask USA to help us get the militants OR stay mum when we wage the war.
• Watch the people around, know where they are from; the militants are living among us and will not hesitate to kill us when they are done.
My question –
Where did the politicians apparate? No statements from them!!!
You pushed us too far, face the wrath now.
India has awakened; Awakened to the "World of Change - Refute Fear".

Performance Vs Position
" A Priest dies & is awaiting his turn in line at the Heaven's Gates.
Ahead of him is a guy, nattily dressed, in dark sun glasses, a loud shirt, leather jacket & jeans.
God asks him: Please tell me who are you, so that I may know whether to admit you into the kingdom of Heaven or not?
The guy replies: I am Pandi, Auto driver from Chennai !
God consults his ledger, smiles & says to Pandi: Please take this silken robe & gold scarf & enter the Kingdom of Heaven ...
Now it is the priest's turn. He stands erect and speaks out in a booming voice: I am Pope's Assistant so & so, Head Priest of the so & so Church for the last 40 years.
God consults his ledger & says to the Priest: Please take this cotton robe & enter the Kingdom of Heaven ...
'Just a minute,' says the agonized Priest. 'How is it that a foul mouthed, rash driving Auto Driver is given a Silken robe & a Golden scarf and me, a Priest, who's spent his whole life preaching your Name & goodness has to make do with a Cotton robe?'
'Results my friend, results,' shrugs God.
'While you preached, people SLEPT; but when he drove his Auto, people PRAYED.'
Moral of the story: It's PERFORMANCE & not POSITION that ultimately counts. "
How True!!!

Make Believe!!!
Well I never knew till yesterday I had one such opportunity which I did make the best of. The chatting and the so called socio connection (Views May Differ) had really gotten into me for the past year. But this one, I really wasn’t to be bothered. Well and that is how it began. Out of the blue, someone pings me, says he got my id from ORKUT and starts pestering with loads of questions.
Ignoring didn’t help, this guy shud be made of something stronger, rather than the usual stuff (U see the dirt and the sand) coz the insults didn’t put him off either from asking “none-of-his-business” questions and I had to figure out a way to surpass this, I thot about the shortest words in the dictionary so I cud refrain myself from typing.
So I started working for Press with HT and stayed in Kolkata… LOL. That was all I said if I remember it well. And forgot all about it...until yesterday... :D
Believe me I didn’t quite know I still knew him, but hey its me!! And what came later which made me smile the whole day. He thought I was a student of Mass Communication, Literature or Journalism, working for Times Of India, and writing a column “Nitty Gritty”, I have to say its so very creative of him, nice guy ;). The worst of all( OR the best for me) , during our truthful conversation( I really mean truthful, Honest) I told him I assist my Dad and I don’t have a particular profile.
Well, so here I was.. ahem.. Daughter of the Mr. Owner, Times Of India working in Somajiguda. And so I had to know a lot about websites to pick up stuff from, had to have info about Stocks; and other boring stuff but doesn’t it sound cool… Me, the Journalist/ Miss Next Owner :D
Tip: If you really want someone to be good to u, FLATTER THEM. Say something nice... they are bound to come around. ;)) . And so was I.
And since then I have been dwelling on this thot, who wud I want to be. Probably someone who doesn’t even know how to boil water (Kalp Laughs), Or someone who can use the makeup brush in the best possible way known to humans, Or a Fairy who grants all wishes(*** Conditions Apply :)) Or Princess Rapunzel( I do like long hair.. ;))) Or Just be me, the simple plain me, waiting for nice things to come by… But the Daughter of the Mr. Owner, Times Of India takes it all… :)
Que Sara Sara.. Whatever will be…Will be,
The future is not ours to see… Que Sara Sara…
Ciao

Love And Marriage
Go together like a horse and carriage
This I tell you brother
You cant have one without the other
Love and marriage, love and marriage
Its an institute you cant disparage
Ask the local gentry
And they will say its elementary
Try, try, try to separate them
Its an illusion
Try, try, try, and you will only come
To this conclusion
Love and marriage, love and marriage
Go together like a horse and carriage
Dad was told by mother
You cant have one without the other ......

The Recharge
Well as always.. I am at my system ..Staring at the screen.. Formatting the much needed document.. Oh, they are so boring. Now this was the evening...bored with the work I had to finish though not so stringent deadlines… But when its Dad it always has to be perfect.. Doesn't this give you a picture of a boring boring weekend?
Well I was about go through this, this Saturday until my savior, my Ravi Annaya.. (My school friend Ravi, Annaya as I call him... he is a wonderful person to be with and the tallest person I have known .. :D. He is bugged too... we share a lot of bugging moments.. :D ) on the phone. Well of course, he had nothing to do either as he said then (:/).
And we decide for the Bandi Pani Puri; ya the usual pani puri or the gupchup or the famous Gol Gappe.. its always the same .. YUMMY. The Recharge: My challenges... 7:30 PM, have to go out, with the limpy leg, dad's home, too many problems..ye ye ( Pirates Style) . :) .. But therez a way when there’s PaniPuri ...:D. And this time it was phone Recharge. Yes, Yes the same old dabba reliance phone as u remember ..but it still works. :) . So here was my idea. I say I gotta recharge my phone, Ravi Annaya is gonna pick me up and it works. :)
So in about 10 mins I am ready and Annaya is here too and thus our Saturday Recharge begins. We decide to pick Pavan and Lata on the way... and drop at Annaya's place. After the intial hiccups we finally move out at about 8:00PM . We decided to head for the Gopal Chat bhandar, near Dolphin Bakery ( Its a lovely place for gol gappe.. if you stay closer to Nacharam, Habsiguda or Tarnaka) but as luck would have it.. the place was so crowded and worried that our turn would never come, we decided to go further.
(To be Contd.....)

The MMTS Hyderabad
Ok... Here I am... after thinking about what to write about for ages I chose to pen down (Type down) my first MMTS train ride… on Feb 7. A mark in history... my history…LOL and that coincides with the birthday of a very good friend of mine... God bless him... :)
Well as the thought swirls… I was suppose to attend his birthday party (I am glad I was invited, but I missed aunt’s biryani) ..Ahem.. Back to the story... so I was stuck at Madhapur, owing to circumstances (Another story to write about :-\) at about 6:30 in the evening. As a good guest, I decided to call him to say I will not be able to make it and that’s when he suggested the "travel" by MMTS to cut down the 2 hour traffic.
Well, that was a great idea... but I had to talk my friends into it… (My sweet friends Kalpana, Priya and Suhasini .. .Nice names aren't they :-)) . As Kalpana says/knows I have great convincing skills ( she never said "gr8" .. well, I have to talk to her about that ;) ) I decided to use them. And they agreed.
The problems we discussed then should be very disturbing and sound true too; to the first ever commuters by train in Hyderabad- The Us. First, the distance between the station and the corporate offices. Secondly "Getting There", third "On Time" then the usuals follow -"The Rush Hour", "Passengers -Kind of Crowd" ,"the transport to get home in time " and the last but the painful one ----my leg, it hurts :-( (Oh! my poor leg).
The Hike begins...
Getting there wasn't that easy as we thought(Of course, the philosophy- Therez nothing easy in life). So we left Kalpana at DELL campus and decided to go ahead with the VOYAGE (lol).
The auto rickshaws play a vital role if you are traveling in Hyderabad and as I can say, it was there chance too to rob us of our money too, the elegant way. Digital meters are a “Strict No No” in this area and also "wahan tak meter se kaun ata madam, woh bhi is traffic mein". I was limping all the way to Cyber Gateway, with Suhas, Priya and me asking every autowallah (nearly 8) on the way to fare us till Hitech Railway Station. At last, we decided to overlook the policy "PAY BY METER" , took an auto for Rs. 40/- to the railway station at about 6:50 PM.
We were pretty nervous that we might miss the train, but with the traffic at the furrow between Cyber Towers and Shilparamam, we had no other go but to GOSSIP--our fav time pass :-) [Oh another one to write about ;-)].
Well, it took precious 20 mins to be freed from the furrow and then another 5 mins happy ride to the station from the crossroads. Well that took care of the 7:15 PM train too. Nevertheless, there was no turning back now, we were here.
Me limping all the way, Priya and Suhas waiting for me to catch up, we chose the opposite platform to get onto... :-(. Well, as the story goes, there’s always a bridge to the other side... :-).My leg still hurts.
We were glad to see a big queue waiting for the ticket and were relieved that we were not alone. There is a helpful "Route Map" at the counter too. So we decided we need three tickets; 2 for Secunderabad and 1 to Malakpet for Suhas if the crowd is decent enough to travel all by herself. So we coax poor Suhas to the queue, ofcourse with the usual saying "Hum hain peeche.. dar mat ..":-D . We were surprised the tickets cost us Rs 8/- for 2 to Secunderabad, and 7 to Malakpet coz we had paid Rs 30/- for the bus. Now with the tickets in hand and 10 mins to wait and lovely sign saying COFFEE we were eager to indulge, as we took the door we were back at ticket counter with the CANTEEN closed.
Back at the platform,, we were pretty happy seeing the people around, the software crowd... :-) ...The Decent Ones.. :-D . Just then, my birthday friend calls and was happy to know that we were at the station and asked us to board the 'Ladies' Compartment. With my limpy leg, I decided to listen. So, all set we were ready for the train... :-). We were a bit apprehensive when the express train passed by, the speed... it makes up for so many good things we miss in life. Then there was another which passed by (MMTS at 7:30) I am not so sure of the destination though. But we were still waiting.
We were more than happy to see the MMTS train this time OURS… at 7:45 PM after the initial pushes/ pinches we were on the train in the ladies compartment. We decided to stand at the door and anyways there wasn’t any seat available(Not that we were looking for it... lol). I bet we enjoyed the ride because we were standing...though it has its own cons. The compartment, with ample space to stand, comfortable seating, clean ...not to sound absurd but it was cozy enough. I have traveled in Mumbai locals , the percentage of people commuting is far from comparable but I found this train warm... comfortable. Now that was about the compartment.
Did I mention, it also has route map. Of course, we were so busy blabbering and drawn to our own thoughts we never noticed it. Suhas, the scape one again… asked the lady next to us, if this was going to Secunderabad or to Falaknuma... we were happy to get a positive reply and it was then Priya saw the routemap. Route map in the compartment ...now that’s traveller-freindly. We phoned Kalpana ... we missed her on the train… Kalp, really missed U!!!
Well, the ride wasn't without the swindles. There were men boarding into the compartment and trying to push us of out of the door... But Priya victimized but stern didn't let it happen... :-) and then the highlight... we had eunuchs boarding the train at Sanjeeviah Park station, that did scare us a bit [dunno y] but we were far from bothered... we were too busy with our chatting galore :-). I sometimes wonder why eunuchs are such a left out community.
And that was nearing the end of our fun ride too, we got too busy about how to reach home in time and decided Suhas can travel by herself:-D as the train was safe enough. Then there was Secunderabad. End of my first ever MMTS ride. I chose an auto to reach the party, all the time wondering why isn't there a MMTS Station close by.
